Did you like British Airways?

alyssia n asked:

Has anyone flown with British airways and did you like it? I am trying to book a flight to Germany in May and British Airways is one of the cheapest flights with the most choices that I have seen. I was on a United Airline flight last year and hated it. The service was horrible, the food stunk, and we didn’t have movies half the time. Needless to say I am hoping to get a better airline this time. Thanks in advance!
Flying From PA to Heathrow then to frankfurt, that is a lot of lost baggage, scary!

It depends where you are flying from…if from the UK it would be in one of the smaller planes with nice plush leather seats….but poor food and crabby aircrew.
If a transatlantic flight then you will be in a bigger plane..no plush leather seats but plenty of stuffy Xpats with screaming children…and poor food and crabby aircrew.

    Lufthansa are far better.
Depending on when you are flying keep checking the prices…the airlines often rotate and take turns to be the cheapest.

This just my opinion, but I’d rather swim across the north Atlantic Ocean with shark chum tied to my a.s.s rather than give a dime to British Airways. The 10+ times I’ve flown on them in the past year and a half has been nothing but misery. My flights from JFK-LHR were constantly delayed both ways, partly not their fault, but aircraft maintenance was the culprit a few times.

I never found that I got good service. I’ve sat in First class, Business Class, and coach. While they weren’t necessarily unattentive in getting me what I wanted, they just seemed snotty about doing it.

They do have a great in-flight entertaiment system, when it works. A few of my flights had no working tv’s in my seatback. Also when you are taxiing to take off, they refuse to let you watch TV. How stupid is that? The air craft announcements are tied into their entertainment system, so there is no reason for you not to be able to watch your movies. JetBlue has LiveTV on their planes, you can watch all the tv you want to while you are taxiing to take off. And since JFK and LHR are heavy in delays, sometimes you’re sitting for a while before you take off.

But again, it’s my opinion, but if the price is the cheapest, go for it!!

    I do.

I travel with them pretty regularly (am a Gold cardholder of 4yrs) and find them to be overall excellent. As with any large organisation there are a few bad apples but the good and excellent people far outnumber them. Their inflight product is far better than much of the competition, if you want to watch films then Lufthansa isn’t a good choice as they don’t have seatback TVs in economy! BA have seatback TVs at all seats and on their 747 aircraft (and some of their 777s) you can stop, start and rewind movies, play games etc.

The key is to not expect the world. Whether you’re flying the best airlines going in economy is still going to be relatively cramped, the food won’t be that good and the service might be a little on brief side. That’s the nature of having hundreds of people in cramped conditions with half a dozen people to take care of their needs.

I’ve flown with BA hundreds and hundreds of times, from short domestic regional jet hops, to Concorde and their longhaul First cabin and think they offer a consistently good product.

I pay for all my own travel and wouldn’t fly BA if I thought they weren’t up to the job.

Flew British Airways afew times….recent trip In Oct08 from Australia to Thailand Business Class….the staff were excellent…the whole operation from check-in to arrival into bangkok was fantastic…Cabin crew were extremely friendly and I highly recommend them over any other airline in europe and north america…good luck

fly Lufthansa! in process of installing seatback videos in coach, so your plane may have it or not, but if not, you can count on two movies on the big screen.

BA was weird, flying backwards to London…and footrest was not attached to seat, so no support for legs. Bacon buttie for breakfast in Business Class? Not what I would call worth the $

    NO!

    British Airways Have
    - Cramped Cabins
    - Disgusting In- Flight Dining
    - Bad Economy & Business Class
    - Lost 1 million Baggage a Year
    - Hot Cabin

I have never vomited on a flight before but after taking BA i vomited in the flight and the crew just look at me and walked away not even asking me if i needed anything….

    NEVER TAKE BA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
