US Airways is the best because they fly non-stop, they are very nice and they get you to your destination quick. Don’t fly American Airlines. American Airlines is very bad because they don’t fly non-stop and they are rude.

You can go to they allways have cheap tickets.

southwest because it is cheapest and the most reliable. if planes need to be delayed because of weather, southwest is always the last to shut down

I like Southwest because of the low fare (if you purchase early), the direct flight 1:30-1:45 flight to BWI( don’t do layovers with toddler),and the baggage check up to 3 bags

I would say Horizon Airlines because they were kind and took my sister to the bathroom while it was turbulance. They were amazing and gave great healthy crackers.

There really isn’t a best airline to fly. What is important to you? If it’s price, buy the cheapest. Unless you’re flying International business or first class, there’s not much difference between airlines. Expect minimal service from them all.

Since you’re flying to Washington National, it just won’t be cheap. DCA is the closest airport to DC (right across the Potomac river) and is utilized by politicians and business people with money. Cost is usually not a factor.

If you want to get to the Washington DC area and save money, you should fly in to Baltimore (BWI). Depending on how far in advance you purchase your tickets, you can save $150 or more. Southwest flies from Sacramento to Baltimore with a one-stop direct flight (probably through Vegas or Phoenix) I’m sure.

The other area airport is Dulles (IAD) is in Virginia and about an hour (depending on traffic) from Washington DC. Either BWI or IAD is going to cost less than DCA. However, BWI is usually the most affordable.

    Good luck

First let me answer your question about cheap tickets.

This is exactly what I do and you should to. First the cheapest airfare is always on the airlines website, you just first have to find which airline is cheapest to fly; for example, if you are flying from New York-JFK to San Francisco Delta might pop up as the cheapest deal than you would go to Delta’s website and find that it is a few bucks cheaper.

Before I get into this always remember that traveling on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday is always going to be the cheapest deal because these are the least traveled days of the week. Sometimes Wednesday is as well. And if you book the earliest flight for the day sometimes you get specials. I flew from Atlanta to Chicago Midway one way for $29 bucks on a Tuesday morning. I did have to leave at 6:00a but it was worth it for this price.

So how do you find the cheapest flight?

    1. Go to farecast.com and fill out the information. It will show you all airfare deals and it tells whether you should by the ticket at the price shown or to wait because the cheapest fare listed will drop. This is accomplished by the website using airline analysts to evaluate when an airline will drop their prices. And I can tell you they are always right

    2. Go to orbtiz.com and do the same thing just to make sure the prices are not cheaper. Also go here so you can see how crowded an aircraft is. The more crowded an aircraft the higher the fare.

    3. Finally when you have found the cheapest carrier go to their website to save even more money sometimes as much as $10 dollars

Now in regards to best airlines:

Well for the past 5 years in a row JD Powers and skytreck has voted Continental as the overall best airline in the country, also winning best flight attendants in the country, best business class and food, and best in flight services.

Having flown almost all airlines in this county I have to say Continental is quite remarkable. From the very first moment you purchase your ticket to picking your bags up in the arrival city you feel the difference. Having said that because they are based in Houston, Cleveland, Newark, three cities that always have weather problems Continental does not have the best on-time performance.

JD Powers has voted JetBlue the best low-cost airline in the country and I disagree. By far the best low-cost airline is Frontier. They have remarkable customer service, new planes with TV’s at every seat, great flight attendants, and great on-time performance. Plus it is fun to try and guess what animal is going to be on your tail.

American, United, Northwest, and in particular US Airways are not worthy of attention. They fall behind the rest. American in the coming months could be bought by British Airways, United is desperate for a merge, Northwest is having to delay over 100 flights a day because they do not have enough pilots (there stocks have dropped over 4 dollars in a two week period), and I’m sorry to say this since you worked for US Airways but for the past 20 years US Airways has been considered a failure. First in the 1990s they had over 5 major crashes witch killed many hundred passengers. Second in the early 2000s it seemed like this airline was going to defunct (cease to exist) until the CEO of America West (another poor airline) merge with the US Airways name. Go to SKytrack.com and you can see all the problems airline experts have with US Airways.

Southwest. You either love this airline or **** it. I love it. I only love it though for the deals and the extra legroom other than that I **** it. Out of all airlines in this country Southwest is the only airline to be voted, 5 years in a row by Forbes, as one of the top 10 most admired companies in the US. Notice I said admired not best. Their business structure is quite remarkable. They are one of only two, Jetblue being the other, that actually made profits post 9/11. Their business structure involves gas price gauging, strong customer service, strong employee service, an award winning frequent flyer program, and they only use one aircraft in the entire company which saves tremendous amounts of money on maintenance.

Now let’s look internationally. Singapore, Emirates, and Cathy Pacific are considered the best airlines in the world. It just depends on which rating company you look at, however, everyone agrees that these are the best airlines. For two reasons: customer service and amenities. Each of these airlines has the most amazing first class you will ever see. Singapore has full padded recliners and 21” plasma TVs in first class. Even better Emirates gives first class passengers there own room: with a bed, large plasma TV, flowers, desk, and a sliding door so you are by yourself. I have flown on Cathy to Hong Kong and was blown away. The flight attendants were so amazing you felt like they were programmed robots designed to be 100% courteous to passengers.

Virgin Atlantic is great too. They have great amenities, but nothing compared to Cathy or Emirates.

In my opinion the best domestic airline is Delta or Continental, especially Delta. For a number of reasons: First bankruptcy was the best thing that ever happened to this company. There planes have been completely remodeled with leather interiors and on flights longer than 4 hours you have your own personal screen on their 757’s. Their 777’s are great as well. Their customer service is impeccable and their frequent flyer program was voted the best in the world. Their first class (business elite) is great, chairs that are nice and cushioned which recline almost 180 degrees. By next year all international flights will have beds in first class. There on time performance is one of the best in the country with lost luggage rates being very low. If you get the chance to fly Delta you will not be disappointed. Their economy is very nice because all their planes have been reconfigured. If you are buying an economy seat with Delta be sure to ask the customer service agent if you can get an exit row seat. Even though they save these for Medallion members they are nice and will more than likely give it to you which means you get extra legroom. Plus Delta along with Continental provide great customer support for missing a flight and lost luggage.

So if you’re going for best overall airlines in the country I would say fly Delta or Continental. If you are looking for a great airline with some of the best prices in the market take Frontier. Airtran has good deals as well.
