Huzaili Aris asked: At one time travelling by plane was only for the rich and famous while the less fortunate had to settle for land or sea routes. Today cheap plane flights are more easily available and have leveled the playing field making the world a smaller place for everyone. Here are a couple of do’s and don’ts you may find helpful if you are looking for cheap flights: Do Plan Ahead When you can plan in advance for the family vacation, you can save a lot of money on travel flights. Airlines offer periodic sales where you can book in advance and save a bundle. If you can set your dates, a travel agent can get you a great sale for that summer vacation in the dead of winter. You can also consider racking up those credit card miles to get you a great rate on cheap plane flights. Instead of using cash for the next six months, charge it and pay it off at the end of the month. Probably one of the best deals you can find, is purchasing cheap plane flights during a holiday sale. Simply book during the sale and set your dates for a later time. Don’t Settle for the First Deal you Find Shop around; there are hundreds of online travel companies now. You can find a great deal on just about every site, but it can sometimes come down to the fine print. Two companies will offer the same fare, but when you read the fine print one may require additional fees that can completely change the scenario. You also need to consider that some airlines charge for extra baggage and even baggage check-ins. If the company you are thinking about has these fees, keep looking. Some companies offer package deals as well. It can often be said that booking a cheap plane flight with hotel is the best option. Just make sure you verify the details. How much would the flight and hotel each cost on their own? Do your research. As they say, the pot of gold is always around the next corner. Don’t Make Rigid Travel Plans Check the days before and after you want to travel. You may find that if you leave a day earlier or come home a day later, you can get a better rate. The highest rates for flights are usually from Friday through Sunday. Travel on a weekday and you can find really cheap plane flights. Don’t be afraid to take an indirect flight. An extra hour to make a stop can really save you money. When looking for cheap plane flights, you can find great deals if you will just switch planes halfway there. Who knows you may even want to take a layover along the way for an extra little adventure. Another option to consider is that if you travel during off peak seasons, you can get better deals on cheap plane flights. While it may seem like more fun to travel when everyone else is, you can often find better deals and service in slower times. You might even find that you can enjoy more of the sites without all those long lines. Lorraine

Andrew Bicknell asked: Did you know that you don’t have to pay full price for airline tickets every time you travel? In fact the airlines are more then happy to provide cheap flights and discount air fares to their customers. The only catch is finding these deals, which once you know where to look and who to talk to is easier then you may think. It will take some time and patience at first but as learn how to do it saving money on all your airline reservations will become second nature. Your travel budget will also thank you because you’ll have more money in your pocket as you travel to your final destination. Here are 5 things you can do to find inexpensive airline tickets: 1. Call the airlines ticketing number. Most people don’t know this but the airlines run discount air fares nearly everyday. Unfortunately they don’t advertise these to the general public but most of the time all it takes is a call to an airlines ticketing service agent and asking what specials they currently have running. The best time to do this is in the very early morning hours to take advantage of the daily ticketing system updates that happen around midnight. 2. Know the best times of the week and day to travel. During peak travel times the airlines can charge higher prices because the demand is there. Try to be flexible with your travel times and fly during the slow times of the week and day, when the airlines are more willing to discount tickets to put people in their cabins. 3. Plan ahead. You can find good discounts on cheap flights if you make your reservations between 4 months to 2 weeks in advance. Obviously the closer you purchase your tickets to your travel date the higher the cost. You can also apply this thinking to your travel destination as well. Many destination vacation spots reduce their prices to attract tourists during their off-season. 4. Package deals can offer great savings. Vacation packages that offer cheap flights or discount air fares along with saving on accommodations are another way to find vacation savings. One of the best places to find this type of deal is with all inclusive cruise packages. 5. Shop around for the best deals. You do have to exercise some patience when looking for cheap air fares. Don’t whip out your credit card at the first good deal you find. Shop around at the different travel and airline ticketing sites to see if you can save even more money. You do have to be careful though because ticket prices can change from day to day. Once you better understand how the ticketing system works you will find that you’ll intuitively know when you are getting a good deal. If you are tired of paying full price to travel by air then consider these 5 ways to get cheap flights and discount air fares as a good starting point. Once you learn the ins and outs of finding those bargain prices on airplane tickets you’ll soon be traveling in style with extra cash in your pocket. Ted

Mike George Sen asked: Looking for Cheap Flights? It is a surprise that airline carriers can offer cheap flights in such a situation where the recession has hit everybody hard. Most world economies have been severely hit by the recession. And overall spending power of an average human being has sharply come down. When in the beginning recession came to light, people predicted all sorts of things including a sharp fall of tourism industry. This proved to be incorrect; in fact, surprisingly the tourism industry has grown since the recession. Though the aviation industry which highly depends on tourism industry; is not doing so well. There is high level of competition among the airlines. They have to lower the air fares to match their competitor’s price on one hand and the fuel and other charges are on the increase, and the volume of travel has also not gone up comparatively. This period of recession has proved to be fatal for many well to do airline companies. Many airlines have decided to merge with other companies, to achieve a competitive edge, adding more staying power. If you wish to travel and you are looking for Cheap Flights there are still avenues for a thought. Those things have changed drastically since inception of recession. It has become difficult to look for and get hold of Cheap Flight Tickets. Let me give you few tips for you to realize Cheap Flight Tickets. Advance purchase: If you are planning for a holiday or even a business trip, try booking as early as possible, preferably at least a month in advance. The airline would always want to sell their tickets as fast as possible and not having to worry about unsold tickets. This is the reason tickets are offered at fraction of their regular price. Cheap Flights are a reality, take a bite. Flexible Travel Dates: Air fares are very volatile; the fares are determined by various combination of factors. A day before or a day after your scheduled day of travel can mean a great difference in your fare. So it becomes very important to search for your Cheap Flights with a little flexibility of travel dates. Flying at odd hours: None prefer to travel at odd times of the day, as the saying goes “the time when thief and the murderer are out”. I am sorry to recommend you to travel at the oddest time of the day/night. Since none would want to travel at odd times as early mornings or late at night; to attract travelers the airlines usually keep the fares very low. If you do follow my recommendation you are likely to get Cheap Flights. Fly mid-week: Most people including you would want to travel either on the first day of the week or at the end of the week. There is big demand for these days; hence the fares seem to be expensive. And just the opposite to mid-week, ie. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These week days are comparatively inexpensive. Choose Round Trips: If you are going on a vacation or a business trip you are bound to return your embankment. A round trip is much cheaper than two one way trips. And if you choose a round trip you are sure to make great savings. Nearby Airports: Try choosing nearby airports to the principle airport for both departure or arrival. Smaller and less busier airport levy less tax on the airlines, and thus the fares tend to be less expensive compared to the major airports. Take advantage of your special status: Taking advantage of a situation legally is not sin. If your special status gives an edge over others to get big discounts, why not use it. Many airlines give concision on the fare for students, senior citizens, defense personnel, sports person, disabled or differently labeled individuals, veterans etc. If you are one of them why not avail it. Fly in lean Season: Usually the holiday season is the most expensive for air travel, try planning your trip for lean season, this way you will not be charged the premium caused by the demand. Last Minute Travel: Airline would never want to take off with empty seats, they would rather sell those seats for fraction of the regular fare. So at the last minute (last two or three days) the airline lower their fares to attract travelers to book on these flights which have no takers. This can be an opportunity for people who are looking for cheap flights; you can be one of them. Frequent Flier Program: If you are a frequent flier, try booking your tickets with the airlines frequent flier program where you can acquire points as you travel and you could even fly for free after acquiring some specified number of points. Compare fares on online travel portals: I know many intelligent people who just go to the airline counter and order the available ticket; if you are looking for cheap flights this can be the worst blunder that can ever happen to you. Do a through survey for flights for your destination. You are likely to save pots and pots of cash. Antonio

Ezekiel Phippen asked: Airlines that provide low-cost tickets to attract customers must at the same time provide high quality service to keep their customers. The company that has dissatisfied customers will not be successful. How does a company attract consumers? Low prices are almost always appealing to customers and in today’s economic climate affordable pricing is especially important. Therefore airlines are currently appealing to customers with low prices to ensure their own success. Cheap Flights Budget airfares are the main attraction of airlines that are devoted to attracting the cost-conscious traveler. Such airlines have based their business on luring customers from competing airlines that feature higher prices. As the airlines that are based on low airfares have expanded they have challenged the other airlines. The competing airlines have responded to this challenge by lowering their airfares as well. Airfare Wars The result of the competition has been an unprecedented decrease in ticket prices as the airlines fight to win over customers. Since many customers base their decision of airline travel on the cost of the ticket, the airline with the lowest cost often wins the customer. Although some passengers travel for business and must meet deadlines, many other customers do not have such time constraints and will adjust their travel needs to take advantage of cheap flight and lower fares. The willingness of customers to adjust their schedules to take lower cost flights and to forego amenities has helped the airlines providing such flights to prosper and become successful. Bargain Airline Many of the lower-cost airlines began challenging higher cost major airlines in the 1970′s. The low-cost airlines didn’t offer some of the services and extra conveniences that the more expensive airlines offered, so they depended on cheap flights. The idea of providing no-frills flights appealed to enough consumers to make the new low-cost airlines a success. Customer who didn’t mind the lack of in-flight movies or first-class seating began to frequent these carriers. Pleasing the Customer Eventually, the low-cost airlines achieved success and began siphoning business from the more expensive airlines. By meeting the needs of customers with limited finances, the new low-cost airlines profited and challenged other airlines. Recognizing the success of low-cost cheap flights in the United States led other countries to apply the same formula for success. Low-cost airlines began to develop in other countries. Low Airfares around the World Britain, Japan, and Canada are just a few of the countries where low-cost airlines that provide air travel at low cost are beginning to rival larger companies that formerly dominated the industry. Good service at a reasonable cost is a business concept that has led to the success of many companies and enterprising business owners. This concept has developed successful airlines as well. Success in business is sometimes as simple as pleasing the customer. The airline industry has recognized that cheap flights please the customer and that this simple business structure appeals to customers worldwide. Airlines and Low Airfares Airlines that are based on providing low airfares to customers are forcing other airlines to recognize the appeal of lower pricing and respond to the challenge of providing quality service at lower prices. Cheap flights don’t equate to compromised service or safety. An airline can provide cheap, affordable flights while maintaining a high standard of service. The continued patronage of low-budget airline demonstrates consumer satisfaction with service equates with successful airline businesses. Quality and Price All airline carriers are cognizant of ticket prices and the markets and consumer reaction indicate that lowering prices attracts customers. As long as service is efficient and safe, customers will take advantage of lower prices and appreciate the value. Victor

Brad Alexzander asked: Every one of us dreams of traveling by airplane and view the beauty of the world from the aerial view. There are many variants when it comes to air traveling, some of them were developed by freight or for commercial and company use. Why choose travel by air? Obviously one of the problems by land is lack of space. Meaning thousands of motorists traveling everyday and it seems that this will cause a time delay if you are heading to an important appointment. For busy people the time factor is very important. It is also a know n fact that traveling by air is much faster than its alternatives. We can assume that people traveling by air are those who have important things to do, like businessperson, authors, diplomats, travelers, government officials and some other important persons. If you are planning to travel by plane with a large number of friends and relatives to go to a far place and you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of transferring from one bus to another, air travel is the solution. Evidently, the most interesting spatial characteristics of an airport are its setting and relativisation of the social life implied by air travel. Cheap flight on the way Always put up with in mind that cheapest does not always mean the best. For instance, a courier flights may be cheaper than the student fare but restrictions and limitations can affect you personally. Some times traveling though a weekdays is unlike from the weekends. At times also staying one day or less or more could affect the fare price. Some airlines cut off their flights. Some of them scheduled it in every month and then two months. It would be cheaper to flight from one airplane then transfer to another rather than having a flying directly towards the destination. Fares depend on who the traveler is or his/her status. As much as traveler’s status is concern nowadays, the following people are the one entitled to discounts with some airlines, like students, young children, disabled persons, and senior citizens. Consulting an airline agent will be a great help to the passengers; it will surely be able to cover up all the issue and thoughts running in your mind about the flight. You can also bargain with the agent to have a good deal with them. Getting a flight and paying little is a tough job. It maybe concluded that that there are so many considerations and options in choosing cheap air flight whether local or overseas. Finding for cheaper ways to travel by air is not that easy. It will need to take a lot of time and patience. Just remember this that there is no charge to consult a travel agent. It would be better to find someone who can suggest you of those travel journals in order for you to know what would fits your needs. Travel agents will provide the best costumer service, full practical advice, and will assist you finding the information on cheap airfares when you need to travel. You also need to know information about last minute flight, hostel memberships, rail passes and hotel reservation. Carolyn

Dave Smith asked: Here are 15 quick tips to help you find that cheap flight and lower the cost of your next airline ticket. Flexibility is the key Be flexible with your potential flight dates and always plan ahead of time. Air ticket prices are highly dynamic and depend on demand, supply and competition. Know your market! For the route you want to fly monitor the airfares for a while and try to find out the lowest published fare. Don’t accept the very first fare you find. Fly off-season Fly during ‘off-peak’ or ‘shoulder’ seasons. Do not fly during the peak time of year. (If you do make sure you book well in advance!) Fly midweek Flights that depart during the midweek (Tuesday to Thursday) tend to be cheaper from less demand. Avoid Friday and Sunday evenings and Monday morning. Hit the red-eye Very early morning or late evening flights are less busy – and can sometimes be cheaper than flights in the middle of the day. Peak hours when flights are at their fullest are 8 to 11am and 4 to 7pm. Good deals can be found on ‘red-eye’ overnight flights which people like to avoid. Holiday periods Fly on a major holiday when demand plummets – there can be some incredible deals available. Avoid flying just before and after the holidays when people are travelling back home. Check ticket restrictions Beware the infamous Saturday night stay restriction – some airlines still have this. Check your carrier’s terms and conditions. Stay less than a month Many fare tariffs have a 30 day maximum stay restriction. In other words if you stay longer than 30 days the ticket will be more costly. Circumnavigate Flying long-haul in business class or first class? Always get a quote on a round the world ticket and compare prices. Round-the-world business class and first class airfares are often cheaper than a full fare return trip – and you will get many more exciting stopovers for free. Take a detour Flights with a change of plane at a connecting airport are usually cheaper than non-stop flights. You pay less for the inconvenience. Hub it! If flying long-haul into Europe it may be cheaper to fly into a budget hub like London for 2 reasons. The first is that flights to London are often cheaper than flights travelling to other destinations on the continent. Secondly, London is a hub for a myriad of budget airlines (low-cost discount carriers) which have extensive networks all over Europe. The main two are Ryanair and Easyjet and using them can save you hundreds of dollars while allowing a high degree of flexibility in terms of one-way flights. Check the code If your flight is ‘code shared’ then check the price of the same flight with different alliance partners. There can often be considerable price differences between airlines. Taking the One World alliance as an example, you should check the price of the same flight with both American Airlines and British Airways. Get on the list Sign up to the newsletters of your favourite airlines and travel sites. You will be the first to see any special offers and deals. Go Budget Long-Haul Price up your flight with one of the new generation of budget long-haul carriers. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines flies from Hong Kong to both London and Vancouver. Air Asia X flies from Kuala Lumpur to Gold Coast in Australia with big plans to widen its route network worldwide. Invest in yourself If you are a serious international traveller looking for superb insider strategies to reduce your flying costs then you really should invest in the Ultimate Airfares & Upgrades guide. It contains powerful information on lowering your airfares and also flying first class and business class on a budget. Arthur

Chris J Ingram asked: Cheap flights for airlines are always available. You just need to know how to go about purchasing them. Their is a little process that is involved in making sure that you get the cheapest tickets available for your particular trip or destination. I am sure many of you want to know where to get the best deal and the cheapest prices on plane tickets. Well the best place to go is On-Line. On-line you will always get a cheaper price and a better deal than if your order over the phone or at the airport itself. Depending on when you plan on going on your trip, if time permits you should always try and reserve your flight at least a month before you plan on taking it. By booking your flight a month ahead you will qualify for what is called the advanced ticket discount. I do not know how much it is, but hey something is better than nothing. I have some more secrets when it comes to getting those airline cheap flights. 1. Book your ticket online between twelve mid night and one am for the cheapest tickets. 2. Choose a connecting flight rather than a direct flight for huge savings. Only bad thing is the little layover that you will have. 3. Use websites such as Travelocity and Expedia to find the cheapest dates for flying. They have a tool specifically designed for this. 4. For some odd reason I have found that round trip tickets are often cheaper than one way tickets. Research this before buying. Personally I used to always search around for airline cheap flights before I discovered the secrets that I just shared with you. Now I usually take trips at least 6 times a year, to many different places and it does not cost me and are and a leg. You just have to know where to search for airline cheap flights and how to get them. Ashley

Andrew Bicknell asked: While not as glamorous as international travel, domestic air travel is something that most of us do at one time or another. Of course when we do travel most of us are on the look out for cheap domestic air fares. While it’s not the easiest thing to do finding food travel deals is possible if you know where to look and how to go about it. Many times it might feel like your playing the lottery but chances are you can win the air far one more than the real one. The first thing you need to do when trying to score a discount airline ticket is to be flexible with your travels dates. Check prices for several different departure and return dates. You can often get a good price on tickets if you can find those days which are slower in terms of passengers for many airlines. The airlines view it simply as putting people in seats because every seat not filled is less money for them. Try to be as flexible as possible with your schedule, even to the point of changing your ideal fly out date and you may be pleasantly surprised at how much money you can save. The second thing you can do to find cheap domestic air fares is to make sure and book your flight as far in advance as possible. If you’ve ever priced airline tickets over several days you may have noticed that as you get closer to the flight date the prices keep going up. If you can book at least four months in advance as opposed to several weeks you will save several hundred dollars. There are plenty of early bird specials for those who plan their travel out far enough in advance, making low cast travel entirely possible. Most of these first two tactics can be done online. If you make the effort to actually call the airline ticketing people you may be able to save money as well. Talking to service representatives is a good way to find those unadvertised specials that nobody knows about. You can also ask if joining the airlines frequent flier program will have the added benefit of a one time discount. Many airlines do this to entice new members to their programs. The other thing to remember is that by talking to someone at the reservations center you are talking to a real live person. A little haggling may be in order because many service representatives are more then willing to do whatever it takes to keep your business. So if you are looking for cheap domestic air fares then using one of or a combination of the above suggestions are good way to find good travel savings. Lloyd
