Why not rent a one way car and drive to New York? My wife did that when she met me in Washington D.C. from Ottawa. It cost her under a hundred when all the bills were added in.

I have gone by greyhound and there are night travels on certain weekdays cheaper.
air flights are very expensive since there is a heavy taxing issue for over the border flights.
Really it’s not worth flying.
Take the (around10 pm) bus and sleep till you get there and enjoy your trip.
Also the transportation from the bus stop is cheaper if you arn’t going to be picked up.
